Where to stay in Dijon comes down to three hotels here: two in central Dijon and one château hotel between Dijon and Beaune. The Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune hillsides stretch for 60 kilometers between Dijon and Santenay.

Château de Marsannay is the closest vineyard to Dijon. In town, the Owl's Trail (Parcours de la Chouette) has 22 stages and takes about an hour to walk.

Which area to stay in

Two of the three hotels are in central Dijon, and one has its address in Saulon-la-Rue.

Central Dijon

Maison Philippe le Bon is at 18 rue Sainte-Anne, about 0.6 km (straight line) from the center of Dijon. It is a four-star hotel-restaurant.

Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon - MGallery Collection is at 14 place Darcy, also about 0.6 km (straight line) from the center of Dijon. It is a five-star neo-classical hotel on Place Darcy, a historic monument.

Outside the city

Château de Saulon is at 67 rue de Dijon in Saulon-la-Rue, about 11 km (straight line) from the center of Dijon. It is a four-star château hotel on a large estate between Dijon and Beaune, near the Route des Grands Crus.

Some hotels near Dijon are in other towns, including Chenôve, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Morey-Saint-Denis and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Check the town in the address before booking.

Getting around

The main station is Dijon-Ville. The only other station, Dijon-Porte-Neuve, is small and unstaffed.

From Paris Gare de Lyon, a direct TGV takes 1 hour 32 minutes at the shortest, with no changes. There are 17 trains a day, the first at 6:52 a.m. and the last at 8:22 p.m. Some TER or mixed TGV/TER itineraries take 2 hours 50 minutes to 4 hours 11 minutes.

Parking varies by hotel. Maison Philippe le Bon has private parking in its courtyard when you book. Château de Saulon has free, secured parking with electric vehicle charging stations.

Château de Marsannay can be reached from the old town by tram and then bus. Its guided cellar tour lasts 1 hour 15 minutes and includes six Côte-d'Or wines, from €45 ($49). Book ahead: the visit is limited to 10 people.

A 45-minute chardonnay class in Dijon compares four Burgundy wines, stepping up from village to Premier Cru to Grand Cru. It costs from €35 ($38), and spitting is fine.
